Captain Shane Taylor graduated high school and went straight into serving his country.  Shane enlisted with the United States Marine Corp. in 1991 and was honorably discharged in 1995.  In February of 1995 Shane began his career with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer.  Within a year Shane was sent to training and returned a Deputy Sheriff in 1996 working with Patrol Division.  While working on patrol Shane was selected for the DUI Task Force unit in 1997 and began working the streets at night.  Shane’s first promotion came in April 1998 when he was selected as a Corporal on night shift Patrol.  In January of 2000, Shane was again promoted, this time, to the rank of Investigator.  There Shane worked primarily in the property crimes unit, unless he was on-call investigator and ran across more person related crimes.  In October 2002, Shane was promoted to Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigation Division.  January 2006 Shane was given the rank of Captain and continues to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Criminal Investigation Division.  Shane is also the Commander over the newly created multi-jurisdictional Special Response Team.  This tactical team is a partnership between Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carrollton Police Department, and Villa Rica Police Department.  The design of this team is to offer the citizens of our county better trained and equipped officers to respond to violent and deadly situations that arise.
